Child and family evaluations carry high stakes and intense scrutiny. Dr. Maddux — who co-developed the national APA guidelines that govern several of these evaluations — accepts child and family matters on a selective basis, focusing on complex and high-conflict cases where a rigorous, impartial evaluation is essential to the court’s decision.

His work in this area includes custody and parenting-time evaluations in complex or high-conflict litigation; parenting capacity evaluations; child abuse and neglect evaluations; termination of parental rights matters; and guardianship evaluations.

Each evaluation follows the applicable professional guidelines — several of which Dr. Maddux helped develop — and is prepared to withstand cross-examination.
